Support for families

Further to the announcement by Sir David Sloman on 26 May 2022, the work of the independent thematic review team has now ceased.

The review team recognises that ongoing support will be required for families affected by their experience of maternity services at Nottingham University Hospitals. 

As of March 2022, families who are involved in the review can access new dedicated specialist emotional and psychological support, if they wish. This support is provided by Trent PTS and will be in place initially for two years, from the start of the review. Any family wishing to be part of the review will be sent further information about this service and how they can access it.  

In addition, whether or not you choose to take part in the review, families can access support from the following two services:

  • If you are in a mental health crisis and live in Nottingham or Nottinghamshire, call Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust’s Crisis Line: 0808 196 3779 anytime – 24 hours a day, seven days a week.  Find out more at: www.nottinghamshirehealthcare.nhs.uk/help-in-a-crisis.  

  • For immediate mental health and wellbeing support, you can access Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust’s Let’s Talk service. You can self refer at: www.letstalkwellbeing.co.uk or by calling 0300 300 2200. Just say that you are a NUH Maternity Review family.
